I created this project as an illustrated, personal interpretation and biopic of the life of Nina Simone. She was known for her work as a Singer/Song-writer, Artist, Icon and Civil Rights Activist. Her life began in North Carolina as Eunice Kathleen Waymon, born to the family of a preacher and ended in her sleep in the south of France after years of suffering from segregation, racism, mental health issues, addiction, domestic abuse, and physical illness such as breast cancer. I was privileged to be able to honour her life as even though she lived through pain and hardship, she chose to use her voice to speak out for change and to fight for equality.
